Are you thinking of getting a website and have no idea where to begin??

Sage Butterfly Design is a web design company where we will guide you from A to Z in getting your company on the internet - all for a very reasonable price.

Q: Why do I need to be on the internet if most of my business is local?
A: Even the smallest businesses, whether you are selling a product or not, are finding a presence on the web to be important - almost a matter of credibility. Customers want to be able to find out more about you and your experience before using your services.

Q: I am basically computer illiterate and don’t even know the first thing about the internet. Is it worth it for me?
A: At sage butterfly we pride ourselves on being there for our clients - even those with very little computer or internet knowledge. We will help you get your domain name ( the "www.your business.com") and walk you through every stage of the design process and getting you up on the web. We make it a very painless process!

Q: How much is this going to cost me?
A: Design rates do vary depending on the size and content of your site, but we are offering a special called WEB-BIZ - where we will register your domain name, (the www name), give you 3 pages of design that would include information about you and your services, photos, feedback forms and more.

Q: Do I need to do anything else besides putting it on the internet? Will that bring me business?
A: The web has become such a huge place that just putting your site on the internet is not enough. We will submit you one time to the top search engines. Search engines are where people go to look for different info on the web. Also, every piece of literature that leaves your hands - brochures, business cards, etc should have your web address clearly marked. There is also something called a reciprocal link- all this means is that if you have a buddy or a complementary business that you know of that has a web site, too, you can put links back and forth to each other’s sites. This will also increase your traffic. So, simply put, it is a proactive process- you need to let people know you are out there.

Q: Do you have any sites that your company has designed that I can look at?

Q: If I want to move my site somewhere else after it is designed, can I do this?
A: Yes- your site and name belong to you.

Q: How does payment for the design work?
A: We require 50% of the projected design fee at the time we sign our design agreement and the remaining 50% is due prior to being published on the web.You will have the opportunity to view your site as it will appear on the internet and make any last additions or changes at that time.

Q: Why should I use your company and not one of the other web design companies ?
A: 2 things come immediately to mind: customer service and cost effectiveness: We pride ourselves on being there for our clients - and also believe that you will not find a more reasonable design structure anywhere.

Where to Start - From A- Z.
* The first thing you need to do is decide on a name. (e.g. www.YOURSITE.com.) Then you have to confirm that it is still available.

There is a website you can visit at www.dotmaniac.com where you can enter the name and check its availability.

Domain Name Registration: At this same site, www.dotmaniac.com you can register your chosen name ($14.95 annually). It does require a credit card purchase. This can be done by you or through your web designer or your web hosting company. More on that now...

Getting Your Site Designed & Ready To Publish: Okay...now you find someone like ME to design your website. Ask yourself what your main goal is - be it informational or retail oriented - to best serve your target market.

Designers greatly appreciate specific information when creating your site - at least as far as content. If you have a particular color scheme or layout in mind, then let them know. Otherwise "creative license" is understood.

Cost of web design is quite varied. Click here for a general price guideline to give you an idea of what design fees will run - but these can, of course, vary depending on your own unique needs.

* OK... What about Hosting? Your site is designed and you’re ready to show it to the world! What do you need to do? Well, this is where your "web host" comes into play. You can sort of compare it to renting an apartment. The landlord (or "host") rents you your space in his/her building. Same concept. The "host" leases you web space on their "server". This server allows your site to be viewed by anyone in the world with internet access. Neat, huh?

Web Hosting fees will typically run around $25 /month depending on size of site, functionality and whether you require email service.
